A BABY girl, her mum and a granmother have all died in a horrific house fire.
Cops arrested a man following the tragic deaths at a blaze near Cwmbran, South Wales in the early hours of this morning..Gwent Police today named the victims as Kim Buckley, 46, her 17-year-old daughter Kayleigh Buckley and her six-month-old grand-daughter Kimberley Buckley.
The arrested man was named by neighbours as Carl Mills - Kayleigh estranged boyfriend and the twins’ father
The family had been celebrating Kimberley’s home-coming after being born prematurely at just 1lb 9ozs in hospital - but tragically her twin sister died.
Neighbours heard Kayleigh screaming: “Help, us, help us” at 3.30am as the fire ripped through the family home
Firefighters discovered the three bodies in the gutted top floor of the house while tackling the fierce flames at the home.
Neighbours said “protective and proud” grandmum Kim was delighted to welcome daughter Kayleigh with her granddaughter home from hospital just hours before the blaze started.
Little Kimberley had to fight for life in hospital as she was one of twins born three months premature.
Her twin sister Rose died at just two days after being born weighing just 15 oz
But the family’s three-bedroomed home on the Coed Eva estate in Cwmbran, South Wales was decked out in “Welcome Home” banners for the baby.
Neighbours said police arrested Mills at the scene while the house was still on fire.
Locals said he is from the Manchester area and had been living in a tent close to Kayleigh’s home
A close family friend said: “Kayleigh had the twins three-months prematurely. One weighed just a one and half pounds and the other was even lighter.
“But little Kimberley was battler despite being just 1lb 9oz when she was born.
“It was touch and go for a long time - they have been back and for to the hospital for months and months.
“Kim was very supportive and did everything she could for her daughter and grandchild.
“That’s why Kayleigh chose the name Kimberley - in honour of her own mum.
“She was so pleased to have her coming home on Monday - she put balloons and banners up saying: 'Welcome home Kayleigh and Kimberley'."
The fire was witnessed by great-grandmother Gwynneth Swain, 65, who is Kim’s mother, Kayleigh’s grandmother and the twins' great-grandmother.
Mrs Swain lives just seven doors away from the gutted house and was woken up by the commotion in the early hours.
Heartbroken Mrs Swain was yesterday being comforted by friends and said: “There’s nothing I can say.”
A Gwent Police spokesman said: “The people confirmed deceased inside the address were two adults and one infant.
“Fire service and Gwent Police forensic investigations will begin this morning and officers will also be conducting house-to-house inquiries in the area.
“A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and is currently in custody.”
