President Goodluck Jonathan has instructed the
Ministers of Water resources, Environment and Works to proceed to Kogi
state with the Director-General of the National Emergency Management
Agency (NEMA) for an on the spot assessment of the flood that is
ravaging the north-central part of the country.
The president is currently away in the United States to attend the United Nations Summit,
The floods has hit 20 of Nigeria’s 36 states and displaced at least 10,000 people within kogi state.
Speaking on the phone with Channels Television, NEMA’s DG, Mr Mohammad Sidi, said the technical team would also visit the Okene-Abuja expressway where commuters are reported to be stranded by rising flood waters.
