Toniloba Obafemi, the 9 nine months old baby that was kidnapped on Sunday, September 23, 2012 by a church member at RCCG Parish, in Abuja has been found in good health.

Toniloba and his kidnapper, Comfort Amos, were found in Benin after maximum investigations and tracking by family and friends with help from the police. Comfort's accomplice (both had jointly asked for well over N10million for the child) was caught in Auchi, Edo State and he led the police to Comfort who was with the child in Benin. God be praised .

Martins who hails from Abia is the second child from a family of seven kids and a graduate of Computer Science at the University of Nigeria (UNN), Nsukka.

Emeka Rollas announced as new AGN President

Nollywood actor Emeka Rollas has been declared the new President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) today Friday, September, 2012 following a keenly contested election which took place yesterday.

The announcement was made by the electoral committee this evening.

Rollas who was a secretary during former president Segun Arinze‘s administration edged out another electoral candidate Ibinabo Fiberisima who was earlier rumoured to have won the elections.

Rollas, an actor-director made his way into Nollywood in 1999. He has acted over 30 other movies.

In April he was honoured with a US ambassadorship title along with Stella Damasus.

Flood won’t end till November – Gov. Wada

Gov Idris Wada of Kogi state on Thursday asked the people of the state to prepare for more floods as the situation might not abate till the end of November.
The governor said more water would be released from some dams and that as the water increased everyday and rapidly, increase in flood should be expected till the end of November.
Wada spoke at the 2012 World Tourism Day celebration in Lokoja and stressed that the flooding was a natural disaster that could not be curtailed.
He urged the residents of Lokoja living close to the water front to leave their buildings before the water got to them unannounced.
He also appealed to all residents of Lokoja and the flood victims to accommodate one another during the period.
He advised those who did not have means to get new accommodation or had no families that could accommodate them to go and settle at the relief camps provided for flood victims.
The governor said relief materials were sent to the camps daily to relieve the victims of their hardship. (NAN)

Police announce discovery of bomb factory in kano

The Police Command in Kano State on Thursday announced the discovery of a bomb factory at Hawan Hotoro Area in Kano metropolis.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ibrahim Idris, who confirmed this while briefing newsmen in Kano, said two suspected owners of the factory were arrested during the operation.
Idris told newsmen that assorted bomb manufacturing materials were also discovered during the operation.
He said the factory, which had been cordoned off by mobile policemen, would be demolished.
The commissioner said three vehicles were also found and taken to the police headquarters, Bompai, Kano.
Idris said other items discovered were 100 detonators, the main primer for the construction of Improvised Explosive Device (IED), concentrated salt, used to mix with ammonium nitrate.
Others included: T and T, a high calbre military chemical for bomb making; battery chargers, laptop computers, finished IEDs, four AK 47 rifles and eight fully loaded magazines.
Idris commended members of the public for providing useful information to the police and assured the people that the command would intensify raid on flash points until total peace was restored in the state. (NAN)

US authorities arrest man behind anti-Islam film

After weeks of search and  hiding, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula the man behind the anti-Islam film that sparked outrage across the Muslim world, has been spotted and arrested by the US authorities.
Nakoula who is a 55 years old Christian, originally from Egypt was arrested on Thursday for violating term of his probation.
Nakoula has been on probation after he was convicted for a 2010 federal check fraud that earned him a 21-month prison sentence.
He is scheduled to be arraigned before a U.S. District Court Thursday in a hearing that is closed to the media and the public.
The terms of his probation says, he was barred from using computers or the Internet for five years without clearance from his probation officer.
Nakoula broke the terms of his probation by masterminding the production of “Innocence of Muslims” and then uploading a 14-minute trailer to YouTube.
The film immediately sparked protests across the world, leading to the killing of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens and three other U.S officials in Libya.
The officials were killed when armed protesters stormed the American consulate in Benghazi, shooting at the building and throwing home made bombs.
In Nigeria, Muslims protested for days in Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and other northern cities.

Over a million Nigerians will die if Nyos Dam should collapse says NEMA

Over a million Nigerians are likely to die if the Nyos Dam in Cameroon should collapse the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has warned.
The agency made this known at the presentation of a manual to prevent such an occurrence. The manual, which was endorsed on Thursday at a ceremony in Abuja by stakeholders, aims to put measures in place to mitigate flood waters from the lake from affecting the people of Benue State.
The agency said the manual, titled Lake Nyos Disaster Response Manual, was produced to “proactively prepare for the disaster that may arise from the possible collapse’’ of the Lake Nyos Dam in Western Cameroon.

Police Coroporal To Die By Hanging For Killing 3 Year Old Girl

An Ikeja High Court presided over by Justice Olabisi Akinlade has sentenced a 35-year old  Police Corporal, Okechukwu Nwabueze, to death for killing a three-year old girl, Kaosara Muritala three years ago in Lagos, southwest Nigeria. Okechukwu was alleged to have shot and killed the girl on 5 April, 2009 at a police check point located at Obanle-Aro near Mr. Biggs in Alapere, Ketu. Three witnesses including the deceased father, a police officer and Professor John Obafunwa, a pathologist testified against the accused person. Delivering Judgment in the matter today, Justice Akinlade held that the prosecution had proved the case against the former police officer beyond reasonable doubt. The Judge noted that in his defence the convict gave contradictory account of what happened on the fateful day but admitted that he expended two rounds of ammunition that day. The judge also noted  that the convict claimed that he shot into the air to scare the driver of the car who allegedly refused to stop. In his testimony, the deceased father claimed that the police never stopped them and that he only heard a gunshot few metres away from the checkpoint. In her final judgment, Justice Akinlade upheld the case of the prosecution and subsequently sentenced Corporal Okechukwu Nwabueze to death by hanging.

Seven Britons among 19 killed in Kathmandu plane crash

Tragedy as SEVEN Britons among 19 killed in Kathmandu plane crash

The group were booked to go on a trekking trip in the region around Mount Everest.

Nepalese police said the Brits were killed along with five Chinese people, as well as three passengers and four crew members from the Himalayan country.

The twin-engine propeller plane crashed shortly after take-off near Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed there were British fatalities and said it was “urgently” seeking to confirm the number and their identities.

A spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that there were British national fatalities.”

On Thursday, September 27, 2012, the Actor Guild of Nigeria (AGN) elections were finally conducted.

The presidential elections which took place at the guild’s secretariat was reported to have been disrupted by the faction leader Emeka Ike who allegedly ordered the arrest of the vice chairman of the guild’s Board of Trusties (BOT), Emma Ogugua.

NET gathered that one of the presidential candidates Steve Eboh accompanied Ogugua to the Zone 2 Headquarters but returned late afternoon. The elections were however not stopped.

Last year,  there were scuffles among delegates who had come for the elections in Baden Hotel, Benin City, leading to a commotion late into the night that left the process uncompleted.

I told you guys a few days ago that Charly Boy may be on his way out of the music talent show where he was a judge last season. I've been digging and sources close to the music reality show, which is scheduled to start shooting soon, said that the showbiz impresario is allegedly asking for 30 million Naira before he will be part of the judging panel for next season.

Charly Boy and the producers of Nigerian Idol have had several meetings in the past but they all ended in deadlock as the Area Fada is said to be insisting on more money. 

I hear Optima Media Group, producers of NI, may soon be looking for a replacement for Charly Boy if they don't resolve their issues soon but hopefully they will. He brought so much to the show last year...

Mrs Justin Bieber, Avalanna Routh dies from brain cancer at age 6

Avalanna Routh, the little girl who captured the hearts of Justin Bieber, doctors and thousands of people who met her died today from brain cancer. The 6yr old girl, known as 'Mrs Bieber' because of her great love for the pop star struggled with a rare and incurable cancer called AT/RT.

“Our darling Avalanna went to Heaven this morning,” her family wrote on Twitter. “Oh Avalanna, the brightest star - you took our hearts with you, our greatest love.”

Justin Bieber learned about Avalanna after her family started a “Get Avalanna to Meet Justin Bieber” campaign on Facebook and Twitter, using the hashtag, #MrsBieber. The singer eventually met the sick girl who was diagnosed with cancer when she was 18 months old, and stayed friends with her until her passing today. RIP Ava!

Kefee to release double-disc album

Branama queen Kefee is set to release her fourth LP, a double-disc album in October 2012.

The gospel singer who has been releasing a number of singles since the past year is now ready to unleash the double disc LP tilted Chorus Leader and Beautiful. NET gathered that the albums will be individually themed.

Chorus Leader according to Kefee, will reflect more of the gospel side of her music. We’re told the title was inspired by her days in the church as a member of the choir where she was a chorus leader.

Beautiful on the other hand contains love songs – Kefee says the album’s title track was inspired by her husband, Don Momoh.

The album in general will feature the likes of Duncan Mighty, Ghanaian singer Becca, rapper Skales , Jahborn, Lami, Eben and others.

The first CD will be released be in the first week of October while the second would follow a month later.

Kefee broke into the music industry with her first album, Branama. A second album, Branama 2, followed but it was her third album, ‘A Piece of Me‘, which had smash hit, ‘Kokoroko’, featuring Timaya that got her the deserved recognition.

Man arrested for throwing burning stove on wife

A middle-aged man identified as Oladimeji Fowowe has been arrested by the police at Iju police station Station Red House, Lagos, for allegedly setting his wife on fire, when he threw a burning stove and hot water on her.

The suspect, who trailed his wife to Ijoko in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria where she had gone to assist her husband’s younger brother’s wife who had just put to bed a set of twins, was alleged to have committed the crime when his wife returned to Iju area of Ishaga, Lagos State from Ijoko

One killed, three injured as gunmen invade University of Jos

Two gun men this evening invaded the University of Jos opening fire on unsuspecting students. Two 100level female students were seriously injured, but no student was killed.

Students who witnessed the random and senseless shooting pursued and killed one of the attackers while the other one was rescued by police before the students could also kill him. Police discovered a gun with three live cartridges with the surviving attacker.

The police is yet to say who the men were and why they shot at students of the school

A cheating married woman in Rujeko C in Masvingo, had s*x with her tenant in the bathroom on Tuesday while her husband watched television in the lounge.
When she took a long time to return from the bathroom the husband followed her to the bathroom and rumbled her. The incident which has become a subject of discussion in the entire Rujeko suburb took place at around 9pm when the woman who has been identified only as Mai Shield was found having a good time with a man identified as Chingwa in the bathroom.
According to one resident, who only identified himself as Sam, the woman was watching television in the company of her husband, only identified as Mr Tafi or Baba Shield. He said while the two were enjoying watching television, Mai Shield allegedly received a message on her phone after which he told her husband that she wanted to take a bath as she was feeling hot.
“Mai Shield received an sms on his phone after which she left for the bathroom on the pretext that she was going to bath. The truth of the matter is that Chingwa whose philandering with the married woman is suspected to be spanning many years had sneaked into the bathroom and sent an sms calling her lover,” said Sam.
