Broody ... Nicole says she wants a family
NICOLE SCHERZINGER is in awe of fellow X Factor judge Gary Barlow – because he is such an amazing dad.
Now the singer has revealed she wants to follow in the Take That star’s footsteps by starting her own family.Broody Nicole — who’s dating F1 star Lewis Hamilton — said: “I definitely want kids. I come from a big family. Family is so important to me. It’s everything.
“Gary is brilliant. I didn’t really know him before. I think I really liked him the day I found out he won Celebrity Dad Of The Year.
“The pride he takes in his family and children — he’s a true gentleman. He’s a lovely, honest human. And he’s a great dad. All he does is talk about his family. I love that.”
Nicole also admires the charity work done by Gary — whose fourth child with wife Dawn, Poppy, was stillborn last month — and the rapport with his fans.
She said: “He’s just a grade A human. It kind of sucks. He puts us all to shame.
“I thought I was something special until I came on the show. I thought the fans were waving at me but they just knocked me aside to take pictures of Gary. I was like, ‘Really? That’s what’s happening now? All right, I’ll take the picture of you with Gary’.
“He’s going to be knighted. It just sounds right — Sir Gary Barlow.”
Nicole has had to deny rumours she isn’t getting on so well with another judge — Tulisa. But she has admitted they took a while to get to know each other. Nicole said: “I think it took her a second to warm to me, because we didn’t know each other.
“When we got to sit down and share some wine together and talk and see each other as humans and tell each other about our backgrounds and stories and own lives, we really related to one another.
“We’re both fighters and survivors. We’re tough cookies underneath it all. We just show it in different ways She told me she would show me the ropes with how to be raw and honest and I said I’d show her the ropes on how to be more confident on stage.
“She is used to being in a group on stage and she’s used to two guys.
“Now she is a solo artist, which is great, and I’ve been through that. I feel like I can learn a lot from her and she can learn a lot from me.”
But Nicole said she will be a rival to Tulisa when it to being this year’s X Factor style queen. She said: “I want to make sure I make some statements with what I’m wearing. I want to have some fun with that, when I walk on that stage.”
Despite X Factor guru Simon Cowell no longer being on the show, Nicole — who appeared on the US series with him — said he was always at the back of her mind.
She said: “I went to the school of Simon. He’s always in my ear. You have to go: ‘What would Simon do?’ He’s taught me a lot, so I carry him with me all the time. When we do the live shows, I’ll be thinking of his advice.”
American Nicole also revealed her favourite thing about living in the UK — our puddings and food shops.
She said: “I understand the sticky toffee pudding.
“I’m all about Marks & Spencer and Pret A Manger. I could live solely from M&S and Pret in this country.”
