First visit as Duke and Duchess ... Prince William and Kate
WIND-blown Kate Middleton smiles through a hair-raising moment in Cambridge
yesterday — next to smirking Wills.
The couple were on their first visit to the city since the Queen made them Duke and Duchess of
Cambridge on their wedding day.
And Kate, 30, managed to see the funny side as her new 1970s-style fringe hairdo took a real
battering as she stood on the Guildhall balcony with the House of Windsor heir.
Spectator Joanne Baldwin, 30, who later spoke to the Duchess, said: “I told her I loved her new
hairstyle.
“She said, ‘I’m not sure about it. It’s a bit windy today’. I said, ‘Don’t worry, it looks lovely’.”
Cambridge was packed with wellwishers as the Duke and Duchess went walkabout.
New mum Samantha Hill, 27, handed William, 30, a baby outfit she had made with a picture of
a helicopter and the words “Daddy’s little co-pilot” on the front.
She said: “When I gave it to him he said, ‘I’ll keep that’, and handed it to his aide.”
Kate kept the baby theme going when she met Tessa Davies, 35, and tickled her son James’s
foot.
The couple also opened a support centre for rough sleepers, where cook Carmelo Giammona,
43, kissed Kate’s hand, prompting her to say: “Oh, you’ve made me blush!”
At a reception in the university’s Senate House, Wills couldn’t resist a joke at his brother’s
expense.
He said: “Harry and I were fortunate enough to come to Cambridge five years ago, when we
spent a couple of days at Trinity. I have to say, it’s the closest Harry’s ever got to university.”
PRINCE William and Kate Middleton wow crowds in first tour of 'home' city since wedding
KATE Middleton has fallen victim to the dreaded haircut comedown.
We’ve all been there — the hairdresser chops us a great new style but when we try to recreate
it ourselves it looks nothing like it.
As she stepped out in windy Cambridge yesterday Kate’s locks were lacklustre compared to
her bouncy blow-dried bouffant from the night before.
But hey, even a duchess can’t be perfect ALL the time.
At least her winning smile stayed the same — even if her hair was all over the place. You can
spend all the time you like on your hair, but as every girl knows... you can never count on the
weather.
