An Indian man Ashutosh Gupta is wanted by the police for allegedly killing his 25-year-old wife Pravartika Gupta and burning his 13-months-old daughter on October 6, 2012 at a flat in the NDMC apartments in Sarojini Nagar, India.
According to Hindustan Times,
Ashutosh and his father allegedly burnt his wife to death owing to some
disputes over dowry payment as well as her birth of a female child
instead of a male. Although the infant did not die, she is reported to
have sustained about 55 percent burn injuries on her body.
The police said ”Her father alleged
that the accused family members had demanded Rs.10 Lakh as dowry from
him. The harassment continued even as he paid Rs. 6 lakh in cash to
Pravartika’s in-laws. We have arrested the victim’s mother-in-law, but
her husband and father-in-law are still on large. Efforts are on to nab
them at the earliest.
