President Buhari’s interview with CNN Christiane Amanpour
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his government would be willing to make financial payments to Boko Haram to secure the release of the abducted Chibok girls.
Buhari, who made the comments on Al Jazeera’s UpFront programme, said that the exchange to be made would depend on the negotiations with the sect.
“…It depends on the negotiations with the leadership of Boko Haram,” the president told Al-Jazeera's Mehdi Hasan.

Bashirat Rauf was said to have rushed out of her apartment when she saw fire burning from a cable in a nearby school. She reportedly decided to quickly pick her children who were playing outside in order to avoid being engulfed by the fire unfortunately, she got electrocuted in the process.
Meanwhile, 33 year old plank seller,Sodiq Saka, was said to have gone to fetch water to put off the fire in the school premises when he saw flame coming out of their compound and he got electrocuted in the process.

UBA Records 44% Growth In Profit, As Gross Earnings Rise To N247.2 Billion

Pan-African financial services group, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, yesterday, released its 9 months unaudited financial results for 2015 showing a strong 44% rise in profit after tax to N48.6 billion and a 17% rise in gross earnings to N247.2 billion.
The third quarter results also show Net Operating Income (NOI) recorded a strong 21% growth to N167.4 billion. The cost to income ratio remained within management’s guidance of 65%, compared to 68.7% in the corresponding period of 2014, as UBA continued to focus on improving operational efficiencies to deliver superior return to its shareholders.
In other indices, UBA closed the third quarter with total assets of N2.87 trillion, loan book of N1.01 trillion and a deposit base of N2.18 trillion.

Tribunal upholds Gov. Umahi’s victory at guber polls
The Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Abakalikion Friday, upheld the election of Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi in the April 11 gubernatorial elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Umahi’s election was challenged at the tribunal by the Labour Party's candidate, Chief Edward Nkwegu.
Nkwegu had prayed the tribunal to either annul the election or declare him the winner of the polls due several electoral malpractice and violence perpetrated by the respondent’s party .
The Tribunal Chairman, Justice Theresa Igoche in a judgment, that lasted more than eight hours, dismissed the petition for "lack of merit’’.

As of Thursday morning, our sources say Lamar has shown no signs of consciousness or improvement. We're told 4 organs, including his kidneys, continue to fail. As one source put it, "The doctors are concerned it has been too long that he's been in this condition and now it's not looking good."

The family's pastor, Brian Allan, added: "This is what they really loved to do. If there is something to be said for a family working together was the bonding." Authorities said the girls had been playing on the grain truck when they somehow suffocated in the seed.
