Honours ... Daniel Day-Lewis and Adele
ADELE and Daniel Day-Lewis are leading a spectacular British charge in the Golden Globe nominations, announced by Megan Fox and Jessica Alba today.
The London-born singer is nominated for Best Original Song, for the Bond theme Skyfall.And Oscar winner Daniel is hot favourite for the Best Actor gong after being named for Lincoln, which topped the list with seven mentions
LINCOLN, Argo, Django Unchained, Life of Pi and Zero Dark Thirty in battle for Best Drama gong
Naomi Watts, Rachel Weisz and Helen Mirren made the Best Actress list for The Impossible, The Deep Blue Sea and Hitchcock, respectively.
The Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy list was also dominated by Brits, with Emily Blunt (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen), Judi Dench (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Maggie Smith (Quartet) sharing the limelight.
And Dame Maggie got a second mention in the Best Actress in a TV Drama category, for Downton Abbey, along with co-star Michelle Dockery.
Emily’s co-star Ewan McGregor was nominated for Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) and goes up against favourite Hugh Jackman, for Les Miserables.
British TV stars had plenty to celebrate, with Damien Lewis receiving a nod for Homeland and Benedict Cumberbatch for Sherlock.
Toby Jones and Sienna Miller were also named, for their roles in The Girl.
Argo, Django Unchained, Life of Pi, Lincoln and hotly tipped favourite Zero Dark Thirty will battle it out for the top prize, Best Motion Picture.
The winners will be announced at the 70th Golden Globes, to be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on January 13, 2013.
