The post — advertised yesterday on the Royal Household website — involves winding clocks every week, repairing them at once if they break and changing them by an hour twice a year.
Applicants must also have a head for heights to be able to work up towers and know how to fix barometers, thermometers and even sundials.
The job pays £30,000 a year for a 37½-hour week and gives “access to an unparalleled collection of clocks”.
