A SYRIAN helicopter gunship crashes in flames yesterday — and rebels claimed they shot it down.

It smashed into a built-up area as President Bashar al-Assad’s air force strafed rebel positions in Damascus.
Activist Abu Bakr said: “It was flying over and firing all morning. Rebels had been trying to hit it for about an hour. Finally they did.”

REBELS claim to have scored rare aerial victory by shooting down government gunship

State TV confirmed the copter crashed but did not give a cause.
Assad’s forces were firing mortar shells and launching helicopter attacks in both Damascus and Aleppo as the 17-month-old rebellion worsened.
The latest attacks follow the discovery of the bodies of 320 people, apparently executed, in the town of Daraya on Sunday.
